About the Safal Group
The Safal Group is Africa’s largest producer of steel roofing and the sole producer of Aluminium Zinc coated steel on the continent.
For over 50 years, the Safal Group has built its reputation as Africa’s market leader in its core fields of operation:
- 4 coil coating operations produce metal-coated and pre-painted steel coils, using a patented Aluminium-Zinc coating technology acknowledged worldwide for its performance and durability.
- 26 roll forming operations in 11 African countries produce roof sheeting under respected brand names, adding specialist accessory products that enhance the performance of the total roofing system.
- 6 further operations manufacture specialized steel structural products and construction components that complement the roofing and steel businesses.
The company started by trading corrugated roof sheeting in the 1940s, and opened its first manufacturing facility in Mombasa, Kenya, in 1962. In 2003, all operating companies were reversed into the current holding company called the Safal Group, with shareholding by Safal Investments based in Mauritius.
