ZincAL is manufactured using a patented Aluminium Zinc coating alloy recognised as being the most technologically advanced metallic coating in use world wide. When used in the correct application, you can be sure of the following attributes:
- Considerable increase in service life
- Superior thermal protection
- Distinctive asthetic value
The coating alloy consists of 55% Aluminium, 43.5% Zinc & 1.5% Silicon. The aluminium component of the coating provides a tough physical barrier to protect the steel core against extreme atmospheric conditions and moisture. The zinc component has a galvanic action and builds up on cut edges to further increase corrosion protection.
Their combined action in a metallic alloy coating increases the service life of the steel core by upto 4 times that of traditional zinc galvanised steel with the same coating thickness in the same physical environment.
The extended serviceability of ZincAL makes it a cost effective and environmentally responsible choice of material.
Furthermore, the metallic finish of ZincAL provides maximum heat reflectivity which keeps the interior of a building measurably cooler during the summer months and significantly warmer during the winter months. These thermal efficient properties give ZincAL an advantage over traditional roofing products, such as galvanized steel, roofing tiles and asbestos cement. ZincAL can withstand an operating temperature of up to 350 degrees Celsius. This added benefit makes ZincAL not only a superior roofing product but also a versatile product that can be applied in various engineering applications and uses.
Although conventional hot‐dip galvanized steel has been used for many years and pre‐dates AZ coatings, the latter also has many years of successful use with performance data in excess of 30 years being recorded. Due to the enhanced corrosion resistance of AZ coatings in all types of atmospheric environments particularly with respect to roofing applications, AZ‐coated steel has continued to be sold in ever increasing amounts worldwide. AZ‐coated products are also fully recyclable.
In Uganda, Uganda Baati Limited (UBL) has introduced this new technology for all its roofing sheets to give the consumer the benefit of the product. With the brand name, Dumuzas, the product is now available with dealers, retailers and factory outlets across the country. The product is available in various gauges which include; gauge 32, 30, 28 and 26. Dumuzas comes in two different profiles which are the normal corrugation and the box profile. It should also be noted that all pre-painted roofing sheets from Uganda Baati are also made with a ZincAL base and then pre-painted with a double coat of color.
